Nenad Sitarica

Police officer Nenad Sitarica (36), who shot himself in the head with his service pistol on Sunday evening in the "south" not far from the Railway School "Zmaj" in Zemun, most likely killed himself due to family problems, the first results of the investigation showed. Sitarica was taken to the Emergency Center with serious injuries, but he died during the night.

He worked in the police brigade as a dog handler, and was employed by the Belgrade police for 14 years.

His father Zivorad Sitarica from the Ub village of Tulari does not stop crying for his dead son. He believes that he raised his hand on himself because he could not see his two sons.

We spoke a few minutes before the tragedy. He called me on the phone, he was a little drunk and complained that his mother-in-law did not allow him to see the children. He said that it is very difficult for him that he cannot be with his sons. Shortly after our conversation, he killed himself. Poor my child, poor me too, what did I expect, instead of him burying me, I'm burying him - says Sitarica, crying.

For a long time, Nenad had a problem communicating with his mother-in-law, in whose house in Zemun he lived with his wife Ana and sons aged seven and five. His father says that due to vanity problems, Nenad left his wife some time ago. For a while he lived with a colleague, because he did not agree with the vanity. He asked his wife to rent an apartment somewhere, but she did not agree. As luck would have it, if he had rented an apartment with his wife, I wouldn't be burying him now, nor would my grandchildren be orphans - said Zivorad.

His sister-in-law Ana informed Zivorad about the tragedy that befell him, and as he says, he has not yet received any information from the police.

Colleagues say that Sitarica also did manual labor to support his family.

For a while he lived in Koceljeva and traveled constantly. He moved to Belgrade with his wife and children. Lately he started drinking a bit more, which is why, as I heard, he had problems at work. He was in bad shape financially. We don't know why he judged himself, he didn't leave a farewell letter - said his colleague.
